MoC Signs Optical Fibers Agreement with ZTE in Afghanistan

November 04, 2006. Today on Thursday, November 2nd, 2006 Ministry of Communications signed an agreement with ZTE China to implement the Optical Fiber Project in Afghanistan.

In a Signing Ceremony organized by this purpose in Ministry of Communications, H. E. Eng. Amirzai Sangin Minister of Communications, both Deputy Ministers and other senior officials of the MoC and Mr. Peng Chief Representative of ZTE in Afghanistan were present.

The agreement was signed between Ministry of Communications and ZTE China by H. E. Eng. Barialai Hassam Deputy Minister Technical and Mr. Peng Chief Representative of ZTE in Afghanistan.
At the beginning, His Excellency Eng. A. Sangin Minister of Communications briefed all reporters and participants of the conference from the importance and essence of this Project.

His Excellency added that, Ministry of Communications plans to extend the Optical Fiber through the main highways of Afghanistan. This cable will be extended first through the highway of Kabul-Ghazni, then Ghazni-Kandahar, Kandahar-Herat and also Kabul-Pule khumri, Pule Khumri to Mazar and then back to Kabul by the extension of 3300 kilometers.

This circle will connect Afghanistan with its neighboring countries like Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran through Earth.

This Project is an important and basic project in the history of Ministry of Communications, which all the residents and the future generation of Afghanistan will benefit from this project.
He also added that this Optical Fiber Project will also connect the eastern and central Asian countries with each other through earth.

His Excellency explained that, all existing and forthcoming television, internet and radios broadcasting and services will benefit very well from this project and with best quality.

Meanwhile, by implementing of this Project the Price of all national and international calls will cut down and will bring a large number of revenues through Traffic transit.

Eng. A. Sangin said that this optical fiber project will be implemented within 26 months at a cost of 64.5 million USD by the ZTE china from the developmental budget of Ministry of Communications.
