Gambian mobile premium takes the biscuit

It is fascinating to watch how the two mobile operators in The Gambia, a small country on the west coast of Africa, compete for customers with innovative marketing ideas, specially adapted to local needs.
One of them, Africell, has come out with a very special offer: "Buy a SIM card and get 5kg of rice free!" - and the promo has actually been very successful, especially around the holy month in this predominantly Muslim country when everybody needs to get lots of food together for the end-of-Ramadan celebrations.
The ad shows a happy customer - a smiling woman in traditional Muslim dress.
